“Is not My word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” Jeremiah 23:29
Theme: Vigilance by Jestro
I try not to be harsh and yet I am aware of inadequate expression of God’s word in many churches today. Please understand my complete love for my Lord Jesus before I go any further. I have had 2-3 very rough seasons in my time since the Lord gave me life on 9/13/49. I have learned in these seasons to have a deeper walk with Jesus. Nevertheless, I find myself struggling with the lack of courage and committment, in the leadership, as well as the preaching in the Lord’s house across this country. I feel that there is an epidemic of fear that has taken control of the Bride of Christ. I am saddened as well as fed up. In 2nd Timothy 1:7, Paul writes,’ Our Lord did not give us a spirit of fear, but one of love, power, and a sound mind.’ I know that God’s people cannot grow without the truth and power given to those He chooses to lead and guide His flock. Thanks for listening, Gary
Gary,
I understand what you’re saying. Fear was something I struggled with early on in my call to preach. I was never one who enjoyed standing in front of people, still don’t. It due to fear. The prophet Jeremiah dealt with that too. If you read the first chapter you will see God’s words to the prophet, and that was what God used to help me face this fear, and He still does.
We are fearful of many things. What do we do with that fear? If it handicaps us, cripples us into doing nothing then fear wins and we lose. If we face that fear in the faith of Christ Jesus then we win through the strength He gives us. God has “not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind”; as you quoted Paul’s words to Timothy. Timothy must have been dealing with fear as well, or Paul’s words would be pointless.
My point is that the fears we face can strengthen us, or cripple us. We must choose which one that will be. By the power of the Holy Spirit let’s choose that we be strengthened by the Spirit of Christ, facing the fears, in His power.
I appreciate your comment, and I am greatly encouraged by it. I pray that my response has encouraged. Keep preaching the word.
